Cette année, le traditionnel workshop CEA-CMLA se doublait d'un colloque international, du 24 au 28 septembre 2012, sur le thème : Trends in Numerical and Physical Modeling for Industrial Multiphase Flows, en partenariat avec l'Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal.

Les thèmes 2012
- Comparison (advantages, drawbacks and limitations) of classical methods (finite element, finite volume and finite difference methods) and more recent modeling paradigms, including the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), the discrete element method (DEM), smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH), population balance modeling (PBM), as well as multiscale approaches.
- Combination of these methods into overall models of Eulerian, Lagrangian or hybrid nature.
- Verification and validation of these modeling approaches using data from experimental techniques such as video imaging, probe-based monitoring, particle image velocimetry (PIV), laser Doppler anemometry (LDA), laser induced fluorescence (LIF), radioactive particle tracking (RPT), positive emission particle tracking (PEPT), electrical resistance (ERT) and other tomography methods.
